About Us

Quill & Quiver Fiber was started by Christy Lombardo and Gretchen Hilyard Boyce in 2021. We believe in the power of color to inspire, and the importance of craft, history and story to connect us to each other. We met while studying historic preservation and have been friends for nearly 20 years. We draw from our deep knowledge and appreciation of history to create yarns that tell stories through their colors and carefully selected materials. All of our colorways are inspired by historical craft traditions and the people who keep these skills alive.

We offer small-batches of hand-dyed and limited edition color palettes through our seasonal shop updates. Shop updates include full sized skeins and coordinating mini skein sets called Story Collections.

Our yarn bases are thoughtfully sourced from family-run mills in the U.S. that seek to uphold and support the continuation of the wool industry. Our yarns are hand-dyed in the Champlain Valley in Vermont by Christy in the historic barn studio featured on the cover page of our website. Our cross-country venture is completed by Gretchen, who packs and ships orders from her home studio in the Sierra Foothills in Northern California.

The Quill & Quiver Fiber name comes from the idea that the stories we tell through our yarn are like arrows, the quill is how we record those stories, and the quiver offers a place for us to collect them so we can share them with you! All of the stories that we tell through our yarn connect us more deeply to traditional crafts and their practitioners. We are so happy to share these stories with you through our story collections and related projects.

We strive to provide our customers with unique, high-quality, and thoughtfully crafted fiber that will become part of the story of the heirlooms they create. Subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on Instagram @quillandquiverfiber to learn more and save the date for our upcoming shop updates.
